Product Overview | This sandwich Kit is designed for the precise quantitative detection of Rat Telomere Repeat Binding Factor 1 (also known as TRF1) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates. This Kit utilizes the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. The plate has been pre-coated with Rat TRF1 antibody. TRF1 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Rat TRF1 Antibody is added and binds to TRF1 in the sample. Following this, Streptavidin-HRP is introduced and binds to the Biotinylated TRF1 antibody. During a washing step, any unbound Streptavidin-HRP is removed. A substrate solution is then added, and color development occurs in proportion to the quantity of Rat TRF1. The reaction is halted by adding an acidic stop solution, and the absorbance is measured at 450 nm. |
Storage Conditions | Store at 2 to 8°C for 6 months |
Notes | Occasionally, trace amounts of reagent may remain in the closure of the product vial during shipment and storage of the TRF1 ELISA kit. It is recommended that any liquid that may be present in the lid of the container be centrifuged to the bottom using a bench-top centrifuge prior to experimentation. |

NCBI Summary | This gene encodes a telomere specific protein which is a component of the telomere nucleoprotein complex. This protein is present at telomeres throughout the cell cycle and functions as an inhibitor of telomerase, acting in cis to limit the elongation of individual chromosome ends. The protein structure contains a C-terminal Myb motif, a dimerization domain near its N-terminus and an acidic N-terminus. Two transcripts of this gene are alternatively spliced products. UniProt Comments | Binds the telomeric double-stranded 5'-TTAGGG-3' repeat and negatively regulates telomere length. Involved in the regulation of the mitotic spindle. Component of the shelterin complex (telosome) that is involved in the regulation of telomere length and protection. Shelterin associates with arrays of double-stranded 5'-TTAGGG-3' repeats added by telomerase and protects chromosome ends; without its protective activity, telomeres are no longer hidden from the DNA damage surveillance and chromosome ends are inappropriately processed by DNA repair pathways. |
