Product Overview | This product constitutes a ready-to-use microwell and strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit designed for the assessment of the RAP1 interacting factor homolog (yeast) (RIF1) ELISA Kit target analytes within biological samples. The concentration gradients of the Kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical Kit detection range in biological research samples containing RIF1. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the Kit is based on RIF1 antibody-RIF1 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect RIF1 antigen targets in samples. It's important to note that this ELISA Kit is specifically tailored for detecting native, not recombinant RIF1. |
Storage Conditions | Store all reagents at 2-8°C |
Notes | Occasionally, trace amounts of reagent may remain in the closure of the product vial during shipment and storage of the RIF1 ELISA kit. It is recommended that any liquid that may be present in the lid of the container be centrifuged to the bottom using a bench-top centrifuge prior to experimentation. |

NCBI Summary | This gene encodes a protein that shares homology with the yeast teleomere binding protein, Rap1 interacting factor 1. This protein localizes to aberrant telomeres may be involved in DNA repair. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2010] |
UniProt Comments | RIF1: Required for checkpoint mediated arrest of cell cycle progression in response to DNA damage during S-phase (the intra-S- phase checkpoint). This checkpoint requires activation of at least 2 parallel pathways by the ATM kinase: one involves the MRN (MRE11A-RAD50-NBS1) complex, while the second requires CHEK2. RIF1 seems to act independently of both these pathways. Seems to play no role in either the G1/S or G2/M DNA damage checkpoints. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Protein type: DNA repair, damageChromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q23.3Cellular Component: chromosome, telomeric region; male pronucleus; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; female pronucleus; spindle; nucleusBiological Process: stem cell maintenance; cell cycle; response to DNA damage stimulus |
