Description
7-Fluoro-4(1H)-Quinolinone is a phenoxy compound that has been shown to have antioxidative properties. The antioxidant effect of 7-fluoro-4(1H)-quinolinone can be observed in thermally induced reactions, such as the oxidation of sulfides. It also inhibits lipid peroxidation and scavenges free radicals. 7-Fluoro-4(1H)-Quinolinone has been shown to inhibit the phospholipase A2 enzyme, which leads to decreased production of arachidonic acid and consequently less production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This drug has an IC50 value of 1.5 μM for inhibiting alpha-tocopherol degradation by 50%.
